I’m Jake Echavarria, an illustrator focused on visual development and character design for animation.

My work centers on creating characters with clear personality, strong silhouettes, and readable performance. I’m drawn to the classic principles of appeal, gesture, weight, and line of action— the things that make a character feel alive on the page.

I’m especially interested in visual development that provides characters with a consistent recognizability, utilizing preciseness and clarity that continuity demands. I love recreating characters and studying still life while exercising my own personal twist.

In my free time, you can find me wandering about vintage and antique stores or building a Lego set! I enjoy listening to movie soundtracks or studying the colors of the environments around me. I frequently visit my college arboretum to indulge in nature or take a drive to find somewhere new to explore.

I am a team player and a contributor. I love working in a dynamic, collaborative environment. My philosophy in everything I do is simple: If there is a will, there is a way… let’s do it in the most fun way possible! Bring me a problem and I will return a solution with a smile.
